Morgan Gibbs-White sends Nottingham Forest message after FA Cup drama
Morgan Gibbs-White has sent Nottingham Forest fans a message following their dramatic FA Cup victory against Exeter City on Tuesday (11 February).
The Premier League highflyers were forced to a penalty shootout by the League One side following a 2-2 draw where they managed to secure passage into the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Forest had initially fallen behind in the fifth minute after Josh Magennis scored the first of his two goals, but Ramon Sosa and Taiwo Awoniyi put Nuno Espirito Santo’s men ahead until the same Exeter star levelled things up.
Forest managed to remain cool in the penalty shootout by scoring all four of their shots, with Gibbs-White himself finding the back of the net.
The victory guaranteed Forest reached the fifth round of the FA Cup in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1995-96/1996-97 in another impressive sign of their improvement.
Forest will now face Premier League opposition in the fifth round as they host Ipswich Town on 1 March.
Gibbs-White posts heartfelt Nottingham Forest message
Gibbs-White was initially rested for the start of the FA Cup clash but ended up being brought on in the 72nd minute as Forest pushed to ensure they weren’t part of an embarrassing defeat.
The England international played his part in the penalty shootout, and he then took to Instagram to celebrate the result.
Gibbs-White focused on the fans with his message as he said, “Safe journey home Reds, thank you.”
