Kevin Kilbane has lauded Manchester United ace Marcus Rashford after his man of the match display against West Ham.
Rashford, 19, came off the bench to change the game at the London Stadium on Monday evening, as he provided the assist for Juan Mata to break the deadlock in the 2-0 victory.
Speaking on Monday night’s edition of Match of the Day, Kilbane believes Rashford’s immediate impact from the bench proved too much for the Hammers.
“Rashford came on and everything that United were lacking beforehand, he provided it,” Kilbane said. “His immediate impact and off the ball running was a nightmare for defenders.
“He got in behind, and he changed the game. He was quality, he’s got that instinctive nature.”
The England international provided a low cross for Spaniard Mata to emphatically finish from close range, after twisting an turning past right-back Havard Nordtveit.
Top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic doubled United’s lead late on in the second half despite standing in an offside position.
Rashford could now be given a chance from the off in Jose Mourinho’s side as they go up against Reading in the FA Cup third round, before facing Hull in semi-final of the EFL Cup.
MOTD host Gary Lineker even tweeted his admiration of the young star after his sparkling cameo role against Slaven Bilic’s side, claiming he can become a “star” if he avoids injury.
In what has been a sensational calendar year since his debut against Danish outfit FC Midtjylland in Feburary 2016, Rashford has found the back of the net 13 times in 46 league and cup appearances for the Premier League giants.
In other Manchester United news, this Premier League talisman could be the next man on his way to Old Trafford.
