Murillo and Neco Williams react excitedly as Nottingham Forest agree new signing

Nottingham Forest players were quick to react online as the club confirmed their first signing of the summer transfer window.

Nottingham Forest enjoyed a brilliant 2024/25 Premier League campaign, even if the final day brought heartbreak as they narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification.

Despite that disappointment, Nuno Espirito Santo led the side to an impressive seventh-place finish, securing European football at the City Ground for the first time in three decades.

The club’s progress under the manager hasn’t gone unnoticed, with Nottingham Forest recently handing Nuno a new contract as he prepares to lead the team into Europe next season.

Backing their manager in the transfer market, Forest have now moved quickly to secure their first summer signing, with supporters and players alike welcoming the new arrival as preparations for the new campaign get underway.

Nottingham Forest confirm Igor Jesus signing

Nottingham Forest have officially announced the arrival of 24-year-old Brazilian striker Igor Jesus as their first summer signing.

The club confirmed the news with a post on their social media channels, captioned: “Welcome to Nottingham Forest, Igor Jesus!” The announcement quickly drew reactions from within the squad, with Neco Williams and Taiwo Awoniyi both liking the post.

Fellow Brazilian Murillo also welcomed his new teammate, commenting: “Welcome brother” with a heart emoji.

Jesus had already said his goodbyes to Botafogo last month after their season concluded, with Forest now confirming the deal has been completed.

The Brazilian arrives in strong form, having scored nine goals and registered one assist in 2024/25. That follows on from his 34 goal contributions during the 2023/24 campaign, providing added competition for Chris Wood and Awoniyi in Forest’s forward line.

Football Insider previously revealed that West Ham had also shown interest in signing Jesus during the January transfer window but opted to pursue Brighton striker Evan Ferguson instead.

Nottingham Forest set asking price for Anthony Elanga amid Newcastle interest

While Forest are strengthening their squad, they could face the departure of a key player this summer.

Reports suggest Newcastle United are pushing ahead with a move for Anthony Elanga, reigniting their interest in the winger from last season.

Football Insider revealed Nottingham Forest have set their valuation at £60 million for Elanga, while the Magpies are believed to have submitted an opening bid worth £55 million.

Manchester United are understood to hold a 15% sell-on clause as part of the deal that saw him leave Old Trafford in 2023. That clause could influence Forest’s stance as they look to secure their full asking price for the Swedish international.
