Murty delivers four-word verdict on Morelos after win v Accies
Rangers manager Graeme Murty was pleased with the display of Alfredo Morelos following his side 5-3 win over Hamilton Academical in the Scottish Premier League on Sunday, saying he showed “great energy and enthusiasm”.
The Gers went second in the table following the victory and due to Aberdeen’s 2-0 defeat away at Hibernian, they went nine points behind rivals Celtic.
Morelos though, has been the subject of a move to China with Beijing Renhe believed to be preparing another bid for the 21-year-old hitman.
But the Colombian forward put to bed any thoughts of a switch, playing his part in the fixture, and recorded his 16th goal of the season since arriving at Ibrox in the summer.
And as quoted in The Scottish Sun Murty revealed that his player is unaffected by all the talk. He said: “Alfredo is focused on himself and he showed great energy and enthusiasm against Hamilton.
“I haven’t had a chat with him about it, but I haven’t had to. He knows our position and his position.
“You have seen in the games since the bid came in, against Ayr and Hamilton, that he’s been an integral part of things.
There was no doubting about who was the star of the show in the victory.
Josh Windass celebrated signing a new contract at the SPL side with a hattrick against Martin Canning’s side and pushed his tally of goals up to 15 for the Gers this campaign.
It was a chaotic afternoon at New Douglas Park against the Accies who took an early 5th minute lead through Darren Lyon but the Light Blues soon took command of the match.
Rangers now have just under a week to wait until their next fixture in the SPL, at home against Hearts.
The Gers form at Ibrox has been called into question this season with a majority of the Light Blues defeats coming at the home of the Glasgow giants and will have to be rectified if they are going to hold onto second spot in the league.
