Newcastle backed to accept ‘£40m’ Miguel Almiron bid – pundit

Newcastle United could accept a £20million bid for Miguel Almiron this summer amid interest from Saudi Arabian clubs.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Scotland defender Alan Hutton explained that a Saudi club could make a “big” offer, although the 30-year-old’s age may bring the fee down.

It was said that an offer between £20million and £40million for the winger could be enough for Newcastle to sell as they will look to reinvest the fee in their squad.

Almiron saw a deal to leave the club break down in January, but clubs are said to have retained their interest and could look to explore a move once more.

Miguel Almiron tipped to leave Newcastle in £40m deal

Football Insider reported on 25 May that Eddie Howe is ready to cash in on Almiron, and clubs in Saudi Arabia have retained their interest despite a January deal falling through.

Hutton explained that Newcastle will look to move in a new direction this season, with an expected lack of game time set to push the Paraguayan out of the door.

The big offers are from Saudi Arabia, so this could be anything,” he told Football Insider.

It could genuinely be £20million, £30million, even £40million, but he’s turned 30 so that might curtail it ever so slightly.

He was a bit in and out and we all know what he brings, he can get people off their seats, but are they going to move in a different direction next season?

If he’s one that’s up for sale, then possibly.

He needs to play week in, week out if you’re going to see the best of him, so if he’s not going to get that then you can understand him looking to move on.

They’ll want as much money as possible coming in to reinvest in the squad.”
