Newcastle fans can’t believe Elliot Anderson’s England Under-21s display
Newcastle fans took to social media to lament the club’s decision to sell Elliot Anderson after his stand-out performance in England Under-21s 7-0 win over Azerbaijan on Tuesday (October 15).
The 21-year-old earned the Player of the Match award in their Under-21 European Championship qualifier after delivering a standout performance, scoring his first goal at this level.
The central midfielder was in the right place at the right time to latch onto a cross from Ipswich Town forward Omari Hutchinson, netting their fifth in the 72nd minute.
Thanks to the win and Ukraine’s 1-0 defeat to their Serbian counterparts, Ben Futcher’s side are now top of their qualifying group with 25 points from 10 games.
Newcastle fans unhappy with Elliot Anderson sale
Newcastle made the decision to sell Anderson to Nottingham Forest in the summer for £35million as they scrambled to beat PSR.
Anderson has found consistent game time at Forest, something that he wasn’t offered at his boyhood club, and Newcastle fans are frustrated to see him flourish since he left.
