Newcastle fans destined for heartbreak after reportedly becoming centre of major transfer hunt

COMMENT

When February 1st came around this year and the winter transfer window slammed shut, the majority of Newcastle United fans would have been left feeling pretty disappointed with the business conducted.

The Toon Army were made to wait patiently for the majority of January, and their double deal for Martin Dubravka and Islam Slimani on deadline day took their captures to just three new faces on loan, with Kenedy having arrived from Chelsea in the middle of the month.

However, two months on and that disappointment has faded, with both the Slovakian goalkeeper and Brazilian winger having impressed massively with their displays in the first team, Slimani having just one appearance under his belt.

The supporters would love to see both Dubravka and Kenedy snapped up on permanent deals, and while that seems likely for the Sparta Prague man, getting the Chelsea speed machine to stay would have appeared a much tougher task.

Now the latest report suggests that it may well be an impossibility, and that Newcastle fans are set for heartbreak come the summer.

Sky Sports have claimed that the Magpies have become the centre of a massive transfer hunt, with Bayern Munich and Paris St Germain among a whole host of clubs having already made contact with Kenedy’s parent club Chelsea over a potential move.

His eight appearances for Newcastle, in which he has scored two goals, have been seriously impressive and it should come as no surprise there is so much interest in his signature, and the Magpies would like to think they are front of the queue having taken him on loan.

In reality though, money talks, and the north east side cannot compete with the majority of their Premier League rivals, let alone European giants.

He is as good as gone, and the Toon Army should be happy they had him for the short time they have.

In other Newcastle United transfer news, the club are eyeing up a 17-goal striker set for the exit this summer.
