Newcastle fans react on Twitter as Huddersfield drop points against Derby
By Amir Mir
Huddersfield had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Derby County on Monday evening – and Newcastle fans on Twitter are glad they have dropped points.
Rafa Benitez’ team suffered a costly 3-1 defeat at Ipswich earlier on in the day which gave the third-placed side an opportunity to close the gap on them in the table.
However, David Wagner’s team conceded a late equaliser at Pride Park which boosted the north-east club’s chances of securing promotion via the automatic places.
Leaders Brighton, who beat relegation-threatened Wigan on home soil, secured their promotion to the promised land after the Huddersfield result was confirmed.
Nonetheless, the toon army faithful were glad that their defeat did not prove to be too costly as they are now seven points behind the Yorkshire club, who drop to fourth as a result of those dropped points.

Jaap Stam’s Reading, who narrowly beat relegated Rotherham 2-1 on home soil, are six points behind the Magpies in the table.
Benitez will be looking over his shoulder at the two clubs, especially Huddersfield, who have a game in hand on their rivals.
Reading will travel to relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest this Saturday, with Wagner’s team hosting sixth-placed Fulham – wins for both teams will put the pressure on Newcastle, who host Preston the following Monday.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Right, back to positivity; Huddersfield slip up again and think they'll lose against Fulham. 1 more win needed #nufc

Huddersfield draw with Derby!
Big let off for Newcastle United.
I think our biggest threat to promotion is actually Reading now. #NUFC

That was a great result not only as it keeps Huddersfield 7 points adrift but because pressure is coming from teams below them now. #NUFC

Didn't quiet understand wagners tactics. Huddersfield after getting the 1st goal sat back for the rest of the game #nufc

Realistically, only 3 points needed to secure promotion imo. Lucky that Huddersfield have been on nearly as bad as run in last 8 games #NUFC

Apparently the ref hasn't blown for full time, he's allowing another 15 mins each way to give Huddersfield a chance of a late winner. #nufc
