Newcastle fans react on Twitter to Leeds win against Birmingham

By Amir Mir

Leeds beat Birmingham City 3-1 on Friday night in the Championship – and Newcastle fans on Twitter provided mixed views to their result.

Striker Chris Wood scored a brace during the game added with substitute Alfonso Pedraza scoring late on to seal the points.

Garry Monk will be hoping his team can certainly secure a play-off place with the Yorkshire club edging closer to a promotion spot with every game they win.

At this moment in time, the Whites are 11 points ahead of seventh-placed Fulham in the table, one point behind third-placed Huddersfield and nine points behind leaders Newcastle.

However, Leeds have, at the very least, played one game more than their rivals with Rafa Benitez’ side taking on the Terriers on Saturday night.

One Toon fan believes their supporters are not into doing the Whites a favour at the weekend, while another couldn’t believe they beat the Blues on Friday night.

Additionally, one supporter felt that those three points kept the pressure on the Championship leaders ahead of their crucial match at the weekend.

While another fan pointed out that striker Wood has now gone ahead of Magpies forward Dwight Gayle in the scoring charts after netting his 22nd of the campaign at St Andrew’s.

One supporter added that the Yorkshire outfit are a big club and that they should be in the Premier League with Newcastle.

Overall, the St James’ Park faithful offered differing views to Leeds securing their 20th win of the season.
