Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey is confident that his team can pull off a shock result against Manchester United on Saturday.
The Toon man’s confidence is all down to one man – Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez.
Benitez has seen it all in many years of football management and has achieved some memorable results in the famous stadium, including a 4-1 win as Liverpool manager in 2009.
Speaking to Newcastle’s official website, Shelvey said “Rafa knows this league, he knows how to set teams up and how to get results.
“I’m sure that we’ll go there and give a good account of ourselves, and hopefully come away with something.”
Newcastle have only won twice at Old Trafford since 1972.
The last victory came in December 2013, a Yohan Cabaye goal giving the Magpies a 1-0 victory.
Newcastle have had a reasonable start to the season, and currently sit in 11th place in the Premier League.
Their last two results before the international break have been poor though, with Newcastle suffering a 1-0 defeat away at Burnley followed by a 1-0 home reverse to Bournemouth.
The week after the trip to Old Trafford Newcastle are back at home to play Watford, as they bid to reverse the recent run of indifferent results.
In other Newcastle news, the club are facing an injury crisis ahead of Saturday’s game
