Major Newcastle blow as defender limps out of training to spark left-back crisis

Massaido Haidara has limped out of Newcastle’s training session on Thursday causing a potential left-back crisis for the Magpies.
The defender has been classed as a major doubt for the trip to Norwich after the international break after twisting his knee during training on Thursday.
Rafael Benitez is already without his other senior left-back Paul Dummett because of injury and said after training that they will have to wait to learn the extent of Haidara’s problem.
“We don’t know yet [how long he’ll be out for] but he twisted his knee,” said Benitez speaking to the Newcastle Chronicle. “I think he’ll have a problem.
“Now we have to manage the problem that we have.”

Newcastle would normally turn to the versatile Jack Colback to fill in at left-back, but the midfielder is suspended for the next two league games after picking up his tenth yellow card against Sunderland on Sunday.
Colback will miss the trip to Norwich and the game against Southampton the following week, while Dummett is still recovering from a hamstring problem.
The Magpies cannot really afford an injury crisis with the club second from bottom after drawing 1-1 with local and relegation rivals Sunderland last weekend.
The upcoming clash with Norwich is a must-win game for Newcastle with the Canaries currently three points above the Northerners in the table and occupying the final spot safe from relegation.
Benitez admits he is worried about the injury complications but insisted he will find ‘solutions’ if Haidara does not heal in time for the Norwich showdown.
The former Real Madrid manager said: “Colback can’t play but we will see what the doctor says about Haidara. If we have problems you have to find solutions.
“We have an international break too, you have to wait and after when they come back start thinking about the team.”
