Newcastle finalise big-money deal ahead of next season - report

Newcastle have secured a deal with a Chinese betting agency to be the club’s primary sponsor ahead of their Premier League campaign next season, according to a report.
The Chronicle claim that the Magpies have secured a “big money” deal with the online betting firm after negotiations which have taken place over the last month.
The company, which is yet to be named by the club, will be replacing controversial payday loan company Wonga on the front of the Magpies’ famous black and white striped shirts.
The new logo will adorn shirts which commemorate the 125th anniversary of the club, following the merger of Newcastle East End FC and Newcastle West End FC in 1892.
The club’s logo has been redesigned especially for the anniversary, although their new kit is yet to be revealed, which will continue to be designed and manufactured by German sportswear company Puma.

The Chronicle’s report also claim that there were talks over a pre-season tour of China but this was turned down with the club’s promotion hopes in the balance.
Several other Premier League clubs have signed sponsorship deals with Asian online betting companies in recent years, including Watford (138bet.com), West Brom (UK-K8.com) and Newcastle’s local rivals Sunderland (Dafabet).
In other Newcastle news, the Magpies are in the hunt for a 21-year-old Spanish striker.
