Newcastle tipped to land Burn and three more signings after source’s update today – pundit

Frank McAvennie has tipped Newcastle to seal four new signings before the January transfer window shuts.

The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, predicts Dan Burn and Bruno Guimaraes will be two of those arrivals.

On Thursday (27 January) a Newcastle source told Football Insider the club are preparing an ‘improved offer’ for Burn after their initial £8million bid was rejected.

This comes after this site revealed 24 hours earlier that Newcastle have agreed a £33.5million fee with Lyon for defensive midfielder Guimaraes.

McAvennie expects both players to arrive on Tyneside and predicted two more players will follow them.

“So there is Guimaraes and Burn, then you are looking at two more,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I think that’s what they need and what they will get. It’s a big ask but money talks.

“I’m sure there are talks with loads of players so it’s about holding your nerve and getting the right one in.

“It would be a disaster if no one else came in now. As it stands, Newcastle need two centre-backs.

“I’m sure they want a striker as well. In an ideal world, they would replace everyone.

“I think there is going to be a lot of transfer news with Newcastle before Monday night and I expect they will be working right through to the deadline.

“Then it will be time to judge and if there are only two players in by February, there will be trouble.”

Newcastle are next in action against Everton on 8 February.

A win could take the Magpies out of the relegation zone.
