Newcastle United close in on two new deals – sources
Newcastle are looking to tie up the signings of Lloyd Kelly and Tosin Adarabioyo soon as their first two arrivals of the summer.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke explained that Newcastle are operating on tight financial constraints, which is illustrated by the first two signings arriving for free.
Kelly, 25, will leave Bournemouth when his contract expires next month, while Adarabioyo, 26, will do the same with Fulham, as Newcastle look set to beat off other interested clubs to land both players.
As revealed by Football Insider, the club are confident of signing both centre-backs, with O’Rourke explaining that, with the window opening soon, the recruitment team will be busy this summer.
Newcastle to tie up Lloyd Kelly and Tosin Adarabioyo deals
Both Kelly and Adarabioyo emerged as key targets for Eddie Howe’s side due to their availability on a free transfer upon the expiry of their deals with their current clubs.
Howe was also keen to capture two defenders with top-flight experience to bolster his backline after injuries plagued their season.
Profit and sustainability limitations are hanging over Newcastle, with suggestions that they may have to sell players before they spend on big transfer fees this summer.
After Everton and Nottingham Forest were handed points deductions by the Premier League, the club are keen to ensure they do not suffer the same fate.

Football Insider reported on 23 May that Newcastle had held talks with Adarabioyo’s representatives to offer a triple-your-money deal.
Separately, it was shared that a four-year, big-money deal has been offered to Kelly, with the club now keen to finalise both deals.
In other news, Arsenal want to sign Alexander Isak this summer.
