Newcastle United are planning to sign a centre-back, a central midfielder and a striker this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed that the Magpies are keen to improve the spine of their starting line-up and are plotting moves for top-level talent.
Well-placed sources have told Football Insider (1 March) that Eddie Howe is set to spearhead the club’s summer business and have a major involvement in identifying new recruits.
Newcastle’s FFP obligations forced them to avoid signings in January, but they are expected to recruit heavily this summer as they vie to become regulars in Europe and Premier League challengers.

Despite an underwhelming season for the Tyneside club, sources have told Football Insider (29 February) that Howe is not likely to face any sack pressure in the summer.
The club have already been eyeing additions to their midfield, with Football Insider revealing (19 February) that they and Tottenham are keeping tabs on Everton star James Garner ahead of a potential summer swoop.
A major injury crisis this season has exposed Newcastle’s lack of depth in the striker position, which has influenced their transfer strategy.
Callum Wilson’s future at the club remains uncertain following interest in January, while Alexander Isak has missed 10 games in all competitions through injury this season.
They could also make a swoop for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, with Football Insider revealing (5 February) that they have compiled an extensive scouting dossier on the Belgium international.

Newcastle recently advanced to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after beating Blackburn on penalties on Tuesday (27 February).
They are next in action against Wolves at St James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon (2 March).
