Noel Whelan has insisted Rangers demand at least £25million for Alfredo Morelos as Everton prepare to make a formal bid for the player.
The former Leeds United and Aberdeen forward, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, is adamant that Morelos, 24, is worth as much as Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard.
The Gers valued the Colombian striker at £20million prior to the coronavirus pandemic but that price will have significantly dropped now and and Football Insider has revealed they may let their star man go for around £12m.
Football Insider revealed yesterday that Everton are very keen on Morelos and are planning to make a move when the transfer window opens.
Whelan urged the club to reject any offers shy of the £25million mark.
“No, no, no they should not accept £12million,” he told Football Insider.
“If you are looking at Edouard for £25million then you have to be looking at Morelos for £25million, surely? That is the going mark for goalscorers.
“He has been just as prolific as Edouard while he’s been at Rangers, if not more so because he has been there longer.
“That is just what you pay for a high commodity goalscorer.
“They should look across the road and if they are looking for £25million-plus – why should they not get at least £25million?”
Morelos scored 29 goals in 46 appearances for Steven Gerrard’s side last season, while Edouard scored 27 in 45 for Celtic.
In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that new signing has been registered after 6-figure deal agreed last month.
