Noel Whelan hits out at Leeds players following draw against Wigan
By Amir Mir
Noel Whelan has hit out at the Leeds player for once again “not showing up” in the first half following their 1-1 draw against Wigan on Sunday afternoon.
Garry Monk’s team, who already missed out on a chance to finish in the top six prior to their trip to the DW Stadium, were 1-0 down after Ryan Tunnicliffe had scored in the first six minutes.
It was a laboured performance from the Whites, who suffered four costly defeats during the month of April.
After the break, they pulled one back when Stuart Dallas was controversially fouled in the penalty area, with Chris Wood successfully converting.
Former Whites striker Whelan was not too pleased with the players’ performance in the first half as they secured a point against the already relegated side.

“It has been a real problem for Leeds, this whole thing about not showing up in the first half,” Whelan told BBC Sport.
“Leeds could be done and dusted at half time if they started how they finish games, but they never do.”
Striker Wood has been a key figure in front of goal for the Yorkshire club this season as he has scored 30 goals in all competitions.
In the Championship, he has scored 27 goals from his 44 matches as he finishes the season as the top scorer.
For Monk, his team finish the season in seventh place, five points outside of the top six as they will be hoping to go one better next term.
Added to that, the Elland Road faithful will be hoping that Monk extends his deal at the club, with his contract due to expire in the summer.
