Nottingham Forest fans all say the same thing about Ange Postecoglou after deal agreed

Nottingham Forest have decided to appoint Ange Postecoglou as their new manager after sacking Nuno Espirito Santo – and the response from fans is unanimous.

Football Insider revealed on 8 September that Nuno was being dismissed after Marinakis “crisis talks” and that was confirmed by the club on Monday night.

Espirito Santo was on borrowed time at Forest after expressing in a press conference that he and Marinakis no longer saw eye-to-eye.

With Espirito Santo out the door despite taking Nottingham Forest into the Europa League with a seventh placed finish in the Premier League last season, Marinakis has moved quickly to identify and pursue his successor.

Nottingham Forest set to appoint Ange Postecoglou ‘imminently’

Marinakis’ shortlist of potential replacements for Espirito Santo included several in-work Premier League bosses including Marco Silva and Oliver Glasner, but he’s now settled on one recently sacked manager.

Both Fenerbahce and Bayer Leverkusen had moves for Postecoglou lined up after Jose Mourinho and Erik ten Hag’s respective departures, but it’s Forest who have now won the race for the Australian.

Football Insider revealed on 31 August that big-name managers like Mourinho and Postecoglou were on Forest’s shortlist, and Marinakis has opted to appoint the latter.

Postecoglou will be appointed in time to sit in the dugout for Saturday’s clash with Arsenal and will bring members of his backroom staff at Tottenham with him to Forest.

Nottingham Forest fans slam Evangelos Marinakis call

Posteocglou’s imminent appointment as Forest’s new manager means a quick turnaround before his first potential match in charge against Arsenal, but will also mean a complete change in their style of football.

Forest’s rapid rise up the Premier League table under Espirito Santo came as a direct result of his backs-to-the-wall style which saw Murillo and Nikola Milenkovic establish themselves as top-class defenders.

Espirito Santo’s dismissal and the arrival of Postecoglou means a sea-change in this philosophy to adopt an full-blooded attacking approach, and the high line which comes with that threatens to undo the rock-solid foundations laid at the City Ground last season.
