Nottingham Forest summer recruit Barrie McKay sent the club’s fans into a frenzy on social media following his impressive competitive debut on Friday night.

The 22-year-old made his home debut against Millwall in the opening match of the new Championship season and he scored a sensational long-range goal in the first-half.

The strike would turn out to be the winner as Forest secured a fourth successive opening day home victory in the Championship.

Forest supporters were quick to take to social media and express their delight at the winger’s performance and many believe that he could have a significant impact throughout the season.

McKay signed for the Championship side from SPL giants Rangers for a reported fee of £500,000 and he has instantly made himself a fan favourite with his opening day performance.

The Scotsman enjoyed a decent campaign at Ibrox last season, contributing with six goals and 11 assists in all competitions.

The Forest fans will be hopeful that McKay can produce consistent performances which will see them improve on their disappointing campaign last season, where they only avoided relegation on the final day.

The Scotland international could feature in the EFL Cup tie against Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday evening at the City Ground.
