Nottingham Forest fans explode after Anthony Elanga’s Elliot Anderson reveal

Nottingham Forest fans have been left raging after Anthony Elanga’s recent confession about his move to Newcastle United.

Newcastle landed a £55million deal for the 23-year-old earlier this month, having previously failed to bring him to St James’ Park during the January transfer window.

However, in a new video surfacing on social media, the winger confessed that Chris Wood and Elliott Anderson played key roles in convincing him to make the move.

Speaking after arriving in Singapore for the Magpies’ pre-season tour of Asia, he confessed: “When I found out about the interest, Elliot and Chris Wood spoke to me a lot.

“Elliot did push it, he did push me to come, obviously he still loves Newcastle so much, he was at the final last year, so I took his word for it.” [via NewcastleFansTV]

As a result, Forest fans have been left frustrated that one of their key players has encouraged another to make a move away from the City Ground.

Newcastle land Anthony Elanga deal after long-term chase

Football Insider first revealed Newcastle were attempting to sign Elanga from Forest in June 2024, as they eyed a last-minute deal to get around both clubs’ PSR concerns.

Since then, the Magpies remained strong admirers of the winger and were finally able to bring him to St James’ Park as part of Eddie Howe‘s significant transfer plans.

It was that same window that Anderson made the move to the City Ground in a big-money move, and Magpies supporters have since been keen for him to return.

Nottingham Forest fans rage at Anderson after Newcastle reveal

While there is little doubt Newcastle would have had any issues convincing Elanga to make the move, the idea that Elliot pushed for it has left a bitter taste for Forest fans.

The England Under-21 star has quickly become a fan favourite due to his excellent performances at the City Ground, but many are now concerned.

Taking to social media after Elanga’s interview emerged, supporters insisted it was “not a good look” for the midfielder while his former teammate “sold him down the river”.

Newcastle fans, meanwhile, were full of praise for their academy product’s influence and have urged the club to bring him back to St James’ Park.
