He is average and gobs off too much: New Aston Villa signing is destroyed by club legend
By Amir Mir
Kenny Burns believes new Aston Villa signing Henri Lansbury was “average” at Nottingham Forest and stated that he is “glad” the midfielder has left.
Former Reds defender and club legend Burns delivered a scathing assessment of the former Forest captain.
Lansbury made a switch to Villa Park from their Midlands rivals Forest, with the latter currently battling relegation in the Championship.
The 26-year-old star made his debut and first start for his new club at the weekend, impressing during their 2-2 draw at home to Preston.
Despite Lansbury’s goalscoring success for a midfielder at Forest, Burns was not too impressed with his playing style.

“As you might have noticed, I was often critical of Henri Lansbury during his time at Forest,” Burns told the Nottingham Forest Post. “In the grand scheme of things, he was a very average Nottingham Forest player.
“He could play a few different roles in midfield. He could hold and he could play off the striker, but he gobbed off too much and he got booked too much.
“I’m glad he’s gone. They’ve got decent money for him and hopefully, now that is reinvested in the team.”
Former defender Burns, who began his professional career at Birmingham City, helped Forest to their most successful triumphs in their history when they lifted two European Cups in the 1980’s.
Nonetheless, during his time at the City Ground, Lansbury made 150 appearances for the struggling Championship outfit.
He scored 33 goals and supplied 20 assists for a side that has failed to mount a serious challenge on the top six in recent years.
This season, the former Arsenal man proved to be more successful as an individual, scoring six goals and supplying three assists for a Forest team that is fighting relegation.
Now, Lansbury has the task of continuing those performances and helping manager Steve Bruce earn a place in the top six.
