Nottingham Forest must surely admit Dan Ndoye mistake as Inter Milan plot £30.3m move for unhappy star

Nottingham Forest are set to be handed the perfect opportunity to turn back time on their signing of Dan Ndoye this summer.

Inter Milan are chasing a move for the winger this summer, according to Italian outlet Tutto Sport, as they look to add more energy and dribbling ability to their attack ahead of next season.

The Swiss international has been identified as one of several targets that the Nerazzurri feel could provide that for them, with former Aston Villa wideman Moussa Diaby also on their radar.

Ndoye only moved to the City Ground last summer for an initial fee of £34million, but there is already a feeling in Italy that he could potentially be available for £30.3m this time around.

Nottingham Forest’s transfer plans are set to see them try to strengthen their hand if they remain in the Premier League, but it may be tempting for them to cash in.

Nottingham Forest to cut their losses on Dan Ndoye

Ndoye is clearly unhappy at Forest, as he questioned the level of gametime that he has been receiving of late after scoring for Switzerland in their friendly last week.

The former Bologna man got off to an excellent start in the Premier League, as he notched a goal and an assist in his first two games, but things have quickly gone downhill for him since then.

Ndoye has failed to add another league goal involvement since August, and he has now become little more than a squad player since Vitor Pereira’s arrival at the club.

That lack of football appears to have left him questioning his future long-term, as Forest’s buy has begun to look worse by the week.

However, news of Inter’s interest could be set to provide salvation for Evangelos Marinakis and Co., given that a deal could potentially be done for just under a £4m loss compared to their initial outlay.

The 25-year-old signed a five-year deal with the Reds last summer, but Forest would surely be better served admitting that they made a mistake by signing him, and taking the chance to offload him if it arises, given the money that could be on the table.

Forest may be able to avoid compromise with Ndoye sale

Former Aston Villa chief executive Keith Wyness recently told Football Insider that Forest may sacrifice new signings to get their stadium upgrades over the line in the coming years.

Marinakis has been trying to boost the capacity at the City Ground for a long time now, but Wyness feels that the opportunity to complete the proposed alterations may only be possible if the board are willing to cut back on investment in the squad.

However, they could avoid that compromise with sales of the likes of Ndoye, as a £30m income would provide a significant boost to their transfer coffers.

The East Midlands outfit will need to get fresh faces through the door regardless of which division they end up in next term, but it may be that players need to go out in order for new ones to come in.

Given the money on offer and his own apparent unhappiness, Ndoye is surely a prime candidate to be sacrificed in order to raise funds.
