‘Nottingham Forest set to give Newcastle green light with Anthony Elanga’

Newcastle United could sign winger Anthony Elanga from Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest this summer.

Elanga enjoyed a successful season with Nuno Espirito Santo’s men last term, notching six goals and 11 assists in 38 Premier League appearances.

The Sweden international helped Forest book their spot in next season’s Conference League, just one year on from their relegation battle in 2023/24.

But the East Midlands club’s newfound European status may not be enough to help Espirito Santo retain Elanga’s services.

Nottingham Forest demand £50m+ as Newcastle United eye Elanga

Football Insider have exclusively revealed that Newcastle want to sign Elanga or Antoine Semenyo after missing out on Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, who is expected to join Manchester United.

Similarly, writing for the Daily Mail [11 June], Tom Collomosse reported: “Even though they have no immediate PSR concerns, I’d expect Forest to make a big sale in the early part of the summer.

“Newcastle have liked Anthony Elanga for more than a year, with Nuno blocking his sale 12 months ago because he believes the winger is as valuable off the pitch as on it.

“Mail Sport revealed Newcastle had made a new enquiry for Elanga earlier in June and Forest will demand more than £50million. The lure of Champions League football could be hard to resist, too.”

Elanga could prove to be an even more clinical asset if he plays for the North East club next season, alongside prolific international teammate Alexander Isak.

The former Manchester United man could even prove to be an adequate replacement if Newcastle sell Anthony Gordon to Arne Slot’s Liverpool.

Gordon scored six goals and made five assists for the St James’ Park outfit next term, but Elanga could be up for the task of filling the ex-Everton man’s boots.

Meanwhile, former Man United and Sunderland chief scout, Mick Brown, exclusively told Football Insider that Newcastle want to sign Samu Omorodion from Porto.

The 21-year-old scored 25 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions for Porto, and could be ready for the challenge of Premier League football.

Newcastle have also eyed Brighton striker Joao Pedro, who notched 10 Premier League goals for the Seagulls in 2024/25.
