Nottingham Forest next manager: Huge development emerges on Vitor Pereira succeeding Sean Dyche

Vitor Pereira is the clear bookmakers’ favourite to become Nottingham Forest’s new manager after Sean Dyche.

Dyche was sacked by Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night, just hours after their draw with 20th-placed Wolves.

The former Everton boss was appointed as the Reds’ new manager in October, replacing Ange Postecoglou, but was unable to lead them away from a Premier League relegation battle.

The 0-0 draw against Wolves left Forest in 17th, only three points away from West Ham in the relegation zone, and so owner Evangelos Marinakis saw fit to pull the trigger for the third time this season.

Fulham boss Marco Silva has been touted to take over at the City Ground next, due to his close relationship with Marinakis, but it is Pereira who looks to be in pole position to succeed Dyche right now.

Vitor Pereira is the odds-on favourite to be the next Nottingham Forest manager

Pereira was hired by Wolves in December 2024 after Gary O’Neil’s sacking, with the club in the bottom three, and he led them to a well-improved second half of the season and an eventual 16th-placed finish.

Wolves handed Pereira a new three-year contract in September despite a poor start to the new term, but he was sacked in November after they failed to win any of their first 10 league matches.

The 57-year-old has been out of work ever since, amid links to taking over at Championship strugglers Leicester City, and he is now the clear favourite to succeed Dyche, according to several top UK bookmakers.

Pereira is as short as 1/4 odds to be Forest’s next boss as it stands, with talks now believed to be underway between him and Marinakis.

Who else is in the running to be Forest’s next manager?

Forest’s direction as a club has become unclear this season, with three different types of managers all given a chance, but sacked at the first sign of trouble.

Pereira is the current frontrunner to be their fourth boss of the campaign, while Thomas Frank, who was sacked by Spurs earlier this week, is the bookies’ second favourite at odds of 5/1.

Former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi is also priced at 6/1 odds with one of the UK’s top bookmakers, while Mauricio Pochettino and Robbie Keane both come in at 11/2.
