Nottingham Forest points deduction fears rise after ‘insane’ twist – fans react
Nottingham Forest fans have raised concerns over a new points deduction after the arrival of Elliot Anderson from Newcastle for £35million.
Fans were left stunned by the excessive transfer fee and questioned how it would help them avoid further issues with profit and sustainability rules.
Forest were handed a four-point deduction for breaching financial rules last season and with the financial deadline approaching on 30 June, clubs are scrambling to avoid future breaches.
Football Insider revealed that Anderson, 21, began his medical at the City Ground on Sunday morning (30 June) in a move which will satisfy Newcastle’s PSR concerns.
Nottingham Forest fans fear new points deduction after Elliot Anderson deal
A Forest player is expected to make the move to Newcastle as the clubs do each other a favour with regards to their finances, with the deals in place to help both sides.
However, it has not eased the fans’ concerns about their spending.
The Premier League are said to be keeping an eye on transfer activity for clubs looking to exploit loopholes in the system, adding to the fans’ fears.
Aside from the fears of a new transfer fee, fans could not wrap their heads around the idea of paying £35million for a player who has just 55 senior appearances to his name.
