Nottingham Forest to sell Elliot Anderson amid ‘very concerning’ UEFA situation
Nottingham Forest will be forced to sell midfielder Elliot Anderson as the club may have breached UEFA’s financial rules.
That is the view of former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking to Football Insider, after Nottingham Forest published their 2024-25 financial results.
The Tricky Trees’ summer plans could be impacted if they have breached UEFA rules, with Chelsea and Aston Villa currently restricted after entering a settlement period with the governing body last summer.
The club posted record revenues across the 2024-25 season, but their pre-tax loss and wage bill also increased.
Selling Anderson could net Nottingham Forest up to £100million, with Manchester City and Manchester United both showing strong interest in agreeing a deal this summer.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – states that breaching UEFA rules is “very concerning” for Nottingham Forest.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks that the club have a “crucial” summer ahead.
| Total Revenue | £222m |
| Commercial Revenue | £39m |
| Broadcast Revenue | £159m |
| Matchday Revenue | £20m |
| Pre-Tax Loss | £71m |
| Wages | £167m |
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “It’s very concerning because Forest have been getting used to some European revenue coming in.
“It’s not been the Champions League, but its been ticking over nicely for them. And that will be a concern because they could be looking at a Euro ban or a big fine as well. It’s a difficult one for them.
“Evangelos Marinakis pushes the boundaries wherever he possibly can. And he’s been a great owner in that sense for the club, and he’s doing all he can to take them up. But sometimes there are consequences, and they’ve got to be very careful in these situations.
“The costs of changing managers, changing sporting directors, all those sorts of things, all have extra costs as well. I’m afraid a lot of these things are coming home to roost.
“They’re going to have to sell Elliot Anderson to make up for those mistakes. Another crucial summer window is coming up for Forest, but they’ve got to stay up still as well.”
Italian midfielder on Nottingham Forest’s radar
Nottingham Forest will still be looking to back manager Vitor Pereira in his first summer transfer window at the club.
Sources have told Football Insider that Nottingham Forest are looking to sign Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi this summer.
Multiple clubs are interested in Frattesi, who the Tricky Trees pursued in the January window, as the Italian has just two years remaining on his contract at the San Siro.
The 26-year-old has only started three Serie A matches for Inter Milan this season, and he could welcome the opportunity to become a regular first team player at the City Ground.
