Ollie Watkins, Declan Rice react to message from Tottenham star Dominic Solanke
Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins and Arsenal’s Declan Rice reacted to a message from Tottenham star Dominic Solanke on social media.
Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Man United may have been enough to save Ange Postecoglou’s job, for now at least.
The Australian boss had endured a miserable second season in North London, with a plethora of injuries a consistent hindrance to their domestic campaign.
However, Postecoglou’s side were able to battle through on the continent, and with the win over Ruben Amorim’s side, Tottenham will feature in the Champions League next season.
Despite being just one place above the relegation spots in the Premier League, the former Celtic boss has ended the club’s 17-year wait for a trophy.
What’s more, sources revealed to Football Insider that Tottenham have banked a £38million windfall from their Europa League success.
Dominic Solanke sends three-word message to Tottenham fans
Following the vital win over United, Solanke posted a plethora of images on Instagram, captioned: “Took it home.”
The post was liked by England teammates Rice and Watkins, putting club rivalries aside to show support for their international colleague.
Dominic Solanke and Richarlison prove inspired choices for Tottenham
Football Insider Verdict
Solanke’s first season in North London hasn’t been bad, but the 27-year-old would have hoped to have more impact.
However, injuries have interrupted the former Chelsea man’s ability to build momentum, limiting him to 24 Premier League starts.
But against United, Solanke, alongside Richarlison, was immense for Postecoglou’s side. The duo’s pressing from the front, and the Brazilian’s defensive work rate in particular, completely inhibited the Red Devils’ wingbacks from having the time and space to feed the ball to Rasmus Hojlund.

This decision meant that Mathys Tel and Heung-min Son were benched, a bold decision considering the individual impact both are capable of.
But Postecoglou’s decision proved a stroke of genius, and whilst the final was far from the prettiest game of football, the end result put an end to a near two-decade-long trophy drought.
