Phillips: Rangers told to 'get him signed' after Goldson news from insider
Kevin Phillips has told Rangers to sort out Connor Goldson’s contract situation as soon as possible.
The Sunderland legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims a new deal for the defender is “common sense”.
On Thursday (July 1st) Football Insider revealed Rangers are confident Goldson will agree a new contract before the transfer window shuts.
Ibrox sources have told this site that there is hope of agreeing a three-year contract by the end of next month.
It is understood Goldson, 28, has attracted enquiries from clubs south of the border, including West Ham.
Rangers have already handed new contracts to Allan McGregor, James Tavernier and Jermain Defoe this summer.

Phillips can’t see any reason why Goldson wouldn’t agree to extend his stay at Ibrox.
“Get him signed,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“Why would you not? You’ve got a player who is reliable and clearly very fit.
“He played every game there last season and he clearly loves it there. Get him signed.
“Get him on a deal. As long as he’s not holding the club to ransom, I’m sure they will get that sorted.
“It’s common sense that one.”
Goldson played every minute of Rangers’ 2020-21 season, experiencing an unbeaten league campaign and successful Europa League run.
The defender joined Rangers in the summer of 2018, leaving Premier League side Brighton.
