Leicester will sell striker Islam Slimani to Newcastle for £20m, according to a report.
The Mail claim that this is the only option on the table if Slimani goes to a Premier League rival.
However, they would consider a loan move overseas and are now in negotiations with Monaco over a temporary deal for the striker.
Sliani joined Leicester for £28m in 2016 and would prefer to stay in the Premier League.
The Foxes are willing to take a loss for the 29-year-old but will not consider a temporary move to a Premier League rival.
Newcastle are said to be still monitoring the situation and are in desperate need of a striker after only scoring 22 goals in 24 league games this season.
Football Insider verdict:
This looks like it could be moving away from Newcastle. They’re having problems shifting Aleksandar Mitrovic for the money they want, after reportedly rejecting a bid from Brighton for just £8m. A loan move would have been perfect but that’s not going to happen and Leicester are going to hold out for the full £20m. With talks ongoing with Monaco over a loan move, it appears that is the most likely route for the striker.
