Crystal Palace team doctor Dr. Zaf Iqbal could have dropped a big hint over the identity of another member of Steven Gerrard’s Rangers backroom staff – after confirming head physio Chris Morgan is leaving Palace for a “another challenge up north” and Ibrox seems the obvious destination for the physio.
Morgan – and Iqbal – worked with Gerrard at Liverpool and the departing Palace physio also followed Gerrard across the Atlantic in 2015 when he joined LA Galaxy.
“Although a fantastic end to the season, I’m sure I speak for all the players & medical staff that we are gutted to be losing Chris Morgan who has decided to return up North for another challenge. Was lucky to work with him again at Palace to help us out. All the best & Thank you,” Iqbal said, on his personal Twitter account.

Gerrard has had a host of names mentioned as possible members of his backroom staff already but with the Liverpool legend not officially taking the reins until June 1st, it may be a few weeks until there is confirmation one way or another.
The physio is highly thought of by Gerrard with the 114-times capped England star speaking highly of Morgan in his autobiography after spotting an injury issue ahead of it becoming something potentially career-ending.
Gary McAllister is the only confirmed name to be joining Gerrard’s backroom staff so far but that will almost certainly change over the next fortnight.
After working with Gerrard at Anfield and in California, a move to Govan appears to be the next logical step as Gerrard’s Ibrox revolution moves up a gear.
