Rangers manager Steven Gerrard spent his first day on the job watching England’s Under-21’s rout Qatar 4-0 in the Toulon Tournament – and Gers fans immediately started speculating who he could have been keeping tabs on as his Ibrox revolution gets underway.

The Gers boss is in the south of France as part of his UEFA Pro Licence, and was photographed watching his Aidy Boothroyd’s side by SNS Group and posted on their official Twitter account, has admitted that he would be interested in players taking part in the prestigious tournament, according to the Daily Record.

The day before, Gerrard watched the Portugal Under-21 v Japan Under-21 group match , followed by Canada Under-21 v Turkey Under-21.

Gers fans were left wondering who, if anyone Gerrard was watching ahead of the Light Blues squad returning for pre-season training on June 15th.

Here are some of their comments on Twitter:

Gerrard has already recruited three players ahead of his first season in charge at Ibrox with Scott Arfield, Allan McGregor and Jamie Murphy all agreeing to moves to the Light Blues.

After Gerrard’s side return on June 15th, they’ll head to Spain for a training camp before their first competitive game of the season on July 12th in the first qualifying round of the Europa League.
