Mauricio Pochettino refused to give any assurances about Toby Alderweireld’s future at Tottenham, but hinted that fans would get a definitive answer very soon.
Talking at the pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Leicester on Sunday, Pochettino was asked about Alderweireld but batted off the question saying that the side had to focus on finishing the campaign in the best way.
He said that he would talk about next season – and Alderweireld’s situation with the club – on Monday.
Will Alderweireld be here next season? "I think now we need to focus on finishing in the best way. Then from Monday we will talk about next season. That is the moment. Now is not a moment to talk about individual situations." https://t.co/Ok0yvVAGwk

Football Insider verdict:
If we were betting men we’d say that Pochettino is going to deliver bad news about Alderweireld on Monday. All the signs point to the Belgian leaving and these comments have dented any small hope we had that he might be staying. Mentioning Monday is very pointed and it hints that the decision has already been made, which would fit in with his lack of game-time, apart from when he’s needed. This probably won’t come as a surprise to anyone but the most optimistic Tottenham fan, and the question now is how much can Levy get for him. He’s shown that he’s still on top form and could walk into most clubs in the world. His stock might even go up if he has a storming World Cup for his country. Perhaps Pochettino is going to get things going by announcing an auction on Monday – highest bidder wins. Joking aside, there would be no shortage of takers.
