Pundit expects 'trouble' at Tottenham after Conte fires 'proper dig at Levy'
Frank McAvennie is baffled as to why Antonio Conte is yet to be backed as Tottenham boss.
The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted after the Italian had a “proper dig” at Daniel Levy.
Spurs are yet to sign any players in the January window despite Conte openly wanting a number of new faces in north London.
According to Football.London‘s Alasdair Gold (13 January), players fear the Italian manager could walk in February if he’s not backed in this window.
Tottenham insider John Wenham told this site on Monday (17 January) he fears Conte could leave the club and join Man United in the summer.
McAvennie claims fans will “turn on Levy like never before” if he doesn’t back his manager in the last days of the window.

“This will backfire on Levy,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“The fans will turn on him like never before if Conte isn’t backed, I expect there will be trouble.
“Conte is one of the best managers in the world and he’s getting nothing but grief off Levy.
“You just have to look at what he’s done with Spurs already, they haven’t lost in the league and could easily get into the Champions League.
“He said in the press a week or so ago that he had asked for players, that was a proper dig at Levy.
“In the current world, that’s as open as you can get when it comes to publicly criticising someone.
“It’s baffling, why would you not give him what he wants?”
Tottenham sit one point off the top four after sealing a dramatic last-gasp win against Leicester on Wednesday (19 January).
They also have three games in hand on West Ham, who are currently fourth.
