Pundit swipes at Man United critics after controversial Solskjaer decision made

Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted the Man United squad deserved to be given a week off training despite their poor run of form.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed the Man United players are still working hard and need time to rest.

The Athletic report (November 12) some players were surprised to be offered a week off over the international break by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who has returned to Norway.

A club source told Football Insider (November 10) Solskjaer has to lead a revival in fortunes after the international break or face the axe.

His side have picked up just four points from their last six Premier League games and have lost derby games to Man City and Liverpool at Old Trafford in that time.

“I don’t mind them being given time off,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“When I was a player you had your three or four days off during the international break. There are so many players that are away on international duty, it is nice the players that are left to get a little rest.

“People don’t realise, just because you are in bad form it doesn’t mean that you’re not using your legs and playing hard games. You still need your rest.

“I’ve got no problem with it, people just want to pick holes in things.

“What you’ve got to understand is the majority of the starting line up are away on international duty.

“It’s the fringe players and the players that haven’t been playing as much that have been given the time off.
