Newcastle tipped to pay big money to complete Tarkowski signing ahead of January after source’s update – pundit
Frank McAvennie has told Burnley they won’t be able to hold on to James Tarkowski if Newcastle United “throw money at him”.
The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insists Burnely should cash in on their star player in January.
A Burnley source told Football Insider on 16 November the club plan to dig their heels in and stop Tarkowski, 29, from leaving in January.

On 9 October, the Telegraph reported Tarkowski is set to be one of the first signings made by Newcastle’s new owners.
The defender has played every minute of Burnley’s league season and has scored one goal.
McAvennie claims Burnley are powerless to stop Newcastle from stealing Tarkowski away in January.
“I wonder about Newcastle signing Tarkowski,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He was linked with West Ham for ages but nothing happened. Burnley demanded too much money.
“He’s a brilliant defender and he would definitely do a job for Newcastle.
“He’s out of contract now so they can’t do that. If Newcastle throw money at him he will join.
“They need a new defender so that could work. West Ham is a more attractive option right now but I don’t think they want him.
“Newcastle could get a deal done there and I think it would be a sensible move.”

Newcastle’s new owners have already made their first appointment as Eddie Howe was named as Steve Bruce’s successor on 8 November.
His first game is against Brentford on Saturday.
