Pundit: Tottenham squad will be thrilled after what 'I've heard' amid major Nuno update
Noel Whelan has suggested the Tottenham squad would be thrilled if Nuno Espirito Santo is appointed manager.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Premier League striker suggested the 47-year-old would be the “complete opposite” of Jose Mourinho.
As revealed by Football Insider on Friday (June 25th), Spurs have agreed personal terms with Nuno and are close to finalising a deal.
Spurs had ruled the former Wolves man out of the running but pulled a U-turn after discussions with other candidates fell through.
Whelan revealed he had been seriously impressed with the way Nuno communicated in press conferences and interviews.
He suggested a “calm” approach would go down a storm in the dressing room after Mourinho’s time in charge.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “He’d be the complete opposite of Mourinho.
“I’ve heard from people, and I think when he talks, he talks very calmly. He puts things across in a very good way.
“I think he builds a relationship with each and every single player, which is very important in this modern game.
“I think he’d be well respected by the players and well welcomed by the players as well. Personally, I don’t think that’d be a problem.
“The problem is getting him in as quickly as possible so that he can get on with his job. It could be huge.
“He’s still got many, many good international players to work with. He needs to get his team set up, going and find out what formation with the players he at his disposal.”
Nuno left Wolves by mutual consent at the end of the 2020/21 campaign.
Meanwhile, Spurs have been without a permanent manager for over two months.
