'Put Rangers in front of him, he's going to choose that' - Gerrard tipped to lure PL striker
Liverpool sensation Rhian Brewster should snap Steven Gerrard’s hand off if he tries to lure him to Rangers this summer.
That’s according to ex-Leeds United and Aberdeen striker Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Child, about how the striker, 20, could learn a lot from the Ibrox manager and Jermain Defoe.
Brewster has spent the second half of this campaign on loan at Swansea where he has scored four goals in 11 Championship appearances.
Gerrard has taken a number of Reds prospects up to Glasgow – Ryan Kent, Ovie Ejaria and Sheyi Ojo – and is weighing up another loan swoop for the England under-21 international.
When asked by Football Insider if Brewster should consider a move to Scotland if the opportunity arises, Whelan said: “He has done very well at Swansea and has got straight into the action.
“But if you put Swansea and Rangers in front of Rhian, with internationals, European football and the possibility of winning trophies – he is going to choose that. It will benefit him more.

“It would be invaluable for him to learn from Defoe – his movement. Also, I am sure Defoe is thinking about a coaching career when he retires.
“You can learn a lot from a player like Jermain Defoe. He has been a really good professional throughout his career in both club football and with England.”
Jermain Defoe, who has scored 162 Premier League goals, signed a pre-contract at Ibrox ahead of next season and could provide the perfect mentor for the young striker.
First team action at Anfield next season is likely to be a rarity for Brewster with established stars such as Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi in the squad, whilst the arrival of Timo Werner remains a possibility.
