Liverpool fans have lost their minds on Twitter after it was reported that Wolves playmaker Ruben Neves had arrived on Merseyside with a summer transfer on the cards.

Anfield HQ reporter Oliver Bond claimed on his personal Twitter account on Monday that Neves, 21, is in the North West just days after lifting the Championship trophy with Wolves.

Lisbon-based reported Marcus Alves had previously claimed that the Portugal international would agree a deal with Liverpool in the summer transfer window with Wolves signing Benfica’s Anderson Talisca as a replacement.

Neves has been in sensational form for the Wolves this season after he became the second-tier’s most-expensive player when arriving from Porto for £15.8million last summer.

He has made 40 appearances in all competitions for Wanderers, scoring six goals in the process, earning himself a nomination for the Championship player of the year award, which was eventually won by Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon.

Liverpool fans have been in meltdown over the possibility of signing Neves, who is touted as being a Champions League-quality player playing in the Championship this season.

One Reds supporter claimed that he’d be “chuffed” if the Portuguese ace was to sign a deal with the club.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Neves was linked with Liverpool before he surprisingly joined Wolves last summer which was largely influenced by super-agent Jorge Mendes.

In other Liverpool news, the Reds are working on two midfield goal machine deals with one on the verge of an agreement.
