Seven clubs were interested in Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos in the January window and the club will now prioritise signing him on a new contract, according to a report.
His agent is jetting in from the States and will look to secure him pay parity with the rest of the Rangers first team.
The Daily Record claims that Chinese club Beijing Renhe were one of the clubs interested in the striker who’s enjoyed a fast start to life in the Scottish Premiership this season.
Morelos, who signed from HJK Helsinki for just over £1million in the summer, has scored 11 goals in 24 league games this season and that’s had a number of clubs interested in his services.
The Daily Record claim his agent is flying into Scotland this week as Rangers attempt to get their striker to sign a new, improved contract.
The Chinese transfer window is still open – it doesn’t close for a fortnight – but the newspaper claims that Beijing Renhe have given up on landing their man immediately.
And the Daily Record claim that Morelos wants to stay at Rangers if they can pay him what he wants.
It is reported that he’s currently one of the lowest paid of the Rangers first-team players on around £7,000 a week.
He wants to see parity with some of the better paid players and his agent Michael Gorman is due in Glasgow before their next game against Hamilton on Sunday to outline his demands.
