Rangers cruised into the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup with a comprehensive 6-1 win over League One high-flyers Ayr United at Somerset Park – and Gers fans were blown away by prolific striker Alfredo Morelos’ double for the Light Blues.
After going a goal behind following Wes Foderingham’s howler, Morelos pulled the Gers level in the first-half with a deft half-volley before grabbing a second late in the game.
Josh Windass’ double and strikes from Jason Cummings and Jamie Murphy secured the win for Graeme Murty’s side in terrible conditions.
The Colombian also had a horror moment when he scooped the ball over the bar from a yard out when it bobbled before he made contact.
Gers fans were delighted the 21-year-old brushed off his miss to score twice and were particularly impressed by his partnershp with Cummings in attack.
Here are some of their comments on Twitter:
Cummings' goal was a superb finish, but Morelos' second the best goal of the game for me.

Morelos miss was hilarious and then his celebration for his first goal was spectacular. El Buffalo????.

Morelos and Cummings up top together is the way forward could of been double figures today. Foderingham needs to learn he’s not Ederson and can’t play with his feet. On to the next round

Say what you like about Morelos, but he is certainly not a lad that dwells on his mistakes. he has a howler of a miss, gets the head down, works harder, walks off with 2.

Morelos has scored 15 times in 30 appearances since arriving in Scotland from Finnish champions HJK Helsinki in a £1million move over the summer.
The Colombian is the top goalscorer in the Scottish Premiership with 11 goals in the league for the Light Blues.
The win over Ayr secures the Gers place in the quarter-final draw on Sunday night after the Aberdeen v Dundee United clash at Pittodrie in the final fifth round tie.
