‘Needs to be tied down’ – Rangers fans react to speculation five English clubs are tracking first teamer

By Richard Parks

Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to insist Alfredo Morelos is going nowhere amid speculation Aston Villa lead a slew of English Championship clubs keeping tabs on him.

The Scouts in Attendance Twitter account, which provides reliable information about potential transfers, names Villa as one of five English outfits who ran the rule over Morelos in his side’s 2-2 draw against Partick Thistle at Ibrox.

Second-tier outfits Derby, Reading, Barnsley and Bristol City also reportedly assessed Morelos as he bagged his sixth goal in six league games and his eighth in all competitions from nine matches his new club.

Rangers fans have taken Morelos, 21, to their hearts and are keen for the club to fend off all interest in a player who is emerging as the talisman of Pedro Caixinha’s team.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

The former HJK Helsinki star, who is a Colombia Under-20 international, has established himself as the first-choice striker in Pedro Caixinha’s team.

He had a fine record in Finland and has made a major impact in Scotland after signing a three-year contract in the summer.

Caixinha has admitted that Morelos has set himself a personal target of 25 goals this season.

In other Rangers transfer news, the club are at the heart of a new striker mission.
