Rangers have called a “mystery press conference” for Monday afternoon, according to a report, and Gers fans are excited to hear what the latest news to come from Ibrox is as they await the arrival of Steven Gerrard as the club’s new boss.

After closing the season out on Sunday with a frenetic 5-5 draw with Hibernian, the Gers are now counting down the hours until the Gerrard arrives at Ibrox to take over as manager, with Radio Clyde’s Superscoreboard claiming on Twitter that there will be a press call at Ibrox.

Gers fans think that the Light Blues will be announcing a new signing with Scott Arfield, Oli McBurnie and Allan McGregor all names by supporters.

Here are some of their comments on Twitter:

There has been no indication from the Ibrox giants over the reason for the press conference and it could cover anything from the ongoing saga involving chairman Dave King’s mandatory offer to buy the outstanding shares in the company to announcing additions to Steven Gerrard’s backroom team or confirming the departure of Jimmy Nicholl after a third spell with the club.

Whatever happens at Ibrox, Gers fans are already excited to see what the coming months bring as Gerrard takes his first steps in management and tries to end Celtic’s recent dominance of the Scottish game and stops them from lifting an eighth consecutive Scottish Premiership crown.

In other Rangers news, the Gers are firmly in the running with Celtic to sign this £120,000-a-week Premier League player who wants to move on in the summer.
