'Must be worth £30m' - Rangers fans react as Warburton reportedly eyes Ibrox ace

By Danny Wright

Rangers fans have given a mixed reaction to the news that Nottingham Forest manager Mark Warburton is reportedly looking to sign Barrie McKay.

The Daily Mail has claimed that the ex-Gers boss is looking to secure a cut-price deal for the 22-year-old in January as he enters the final year of his contract.

The Ibrox ace’s existing deal runs out in just over 12 months and Warburton has a big job on his hands to rebuild his Forest side after narrowly avoiding relegation from the English Championship earlier this month.

The Scottish winger is often criticised by the Rangers fans but his stats show that he has still played a big role in what has been an underwhelming return to the Scottish Premiership for the Glaswegians.

Despite that though, fans don’t know what to make of the latest transfer news, with some saying he is worth keeping for the future, while others joke that they could get £30million for the young Scot.

McKay has played in all but three of Rangers’ games this season, making 44 appearances across all competitions.

He’s scored six goals and supplied 11 assists for the Glasgow club.

Warburton exited the club in acrimonious circumstances back in February and took over the helm at Nottingham Forest.

In other Rangers news, Pedro Caixinha has held talks with an international midfielder whose contract runs out within a matter of weeks.
