Rangers legend Ally McCoist believes that if the Gers receive an increased offer for Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos they would “probably accept it.”
The Gers rejected an £8million bid on deadline day, according to Sky Sports, for the 21-year-old from Chinese Super League side Beijing Renhe – six months after Morelos joined the Gers from HJK Helsinki for £1million.
The Colombian hitman has been in fantastic form for the Ibrox side since arriving in Scotland with 13 goals in 27 games for the Gers.
McCoist believes if another bid comes in Rangers would “have to consider it” but admits the timing now makes it almost impossible for the Gers to replace Morelos.
“If that offer is increased by any stretch, I would seriously think Rangers would have to consider it and probably would accept it,” McCoist told BT Sport, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“The only thing I would say, the Chinese window goes on for another month and that doesn’t give Rangers time to bring someone else in.”
Morelos has been nothing short of prolific since moving to Europe with 46 goals in 62 appearances for HJK before being snapped up by the Light Blues and continuing to core regularly in Scotland.
The 21-year-old is currently the Scottish Premiership’s top goalscorer with 11 in 22 appearances in Scotland’s top-flight.
Morelos is almost certain to be involved when the Gers face Neil Lennon’s Hibs at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon in a must-win fixture from Graeme Murty’s side.
Last time the two sides met, the Gers came from a goal down to secure a 2-1 win at Easter Road in December.
