Rangers midfielder Jordan Rossiter could get the opportunity to learn from the player he has regularly been compared to if the Ibrox giants secure the reported move to hire Steven Gerrard as the club’s new manager.
According to the Evening Times, Gerrard is the number one pick to take over at Ibrox this summer and the former Liverpool icon would be the ideal role model for Rossiter as he continues his return from long-term injury.
Gerrard had similar injury problems early in his career before becoming one of the most celebrated Liverpool players in the club’s history.
Rossiter has been compared to Gerrard by a number of former pros, including Robbie Fowler, and getting to work with Gerrard on a daily basis could help the 21-year-old live up to those lofty comparisons.
There are some serious reservations over Gerrard taking the reins at Ibrox – particularly his lack of any experience in the dugout – but this is one area where the Liverpool and England icon should bring some promise.
Rossiter has rarely been seen for the Gers since his move north in 2016 and, despite having lots of potential, Gers fans have never really had the chance to see it consistently.
If Gerrard is appointed as Gers manager, fans might finally get to see Rossiter live up to the hype and hit the expectations of him.
