Rangers senior man makes comments about Celtic ace, fans will be angered
By Harvey Byrne
Rangers midfielder Niko Kranjcar has made praising comments towards Celtic ace Jozo Simunovic, which could leave sections of the Ibrox fan base angered.
The 32-year-old made the move to Glasgow just last summer, but has only played 15 times for Rangers since his transfer due to injury.
However, he will be fully aware of the much heated rivalry between the two Glaswegian clubs and he has even played in one Old Firm clash himself when Rangers suffered a humiliating 5-1 defeat against the Hoops.
The hatred is intense both on and off the field and few nice words are shared across either camps, but Kranjcar has talked up his fellow Croatian, predicting a “top career” for Simunovic.
“I see Jozo often. He’s a great guy and a great player,” said Kranjcar, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

“Personally, I didn’t know Jozo when he was at Dinamo, but when I saw him in Scotland I must admit I was pleasantly surprised how good he was.
“He is definitely a boy who is going to have a top career.
“He’s had his problems with injuries, but he’s got over them and is starting to mature into a really top, top defender.
“Jozo has proved what a good player he is both in the Scottish League and in the Champions League.
“If he continues to develop, he has the potential to be a top defender for the Croatian national team for many years to come.”
It is very rare to see a player from either Rangers or Celtic praising each other, despite being from the same country and comments like these will have angered the Gers support.
Additionally, it will not have done Kranjcar any favours in building a relationship with the Rangers support as many are questioning his signing among others that joined the club in the summer.
Celtic have already won the Scottish top-flight this season, while Rangers sit 35 points behind in third.
However, both sides are set to meet twice more before the season’s end in both the cup and the league with bragging rights for either side still available.
