Rangers and Celtic are set to do more than just battle each other on the pitch.
The two clubs are set to meet in a potential title-decider at Parkhead on Sunday, but they’re also both in the race to sign Dundee defensive midfielder Glen Kamara.
The Sun claim that the 22-year-old Finnish midfielder, who joined from Arsenal on a free last summer, is interesting both Scottish giants and Swansea.
They say he’s “one of the best midfielders in Scottish football” and he could be available for just £1million in the summer.
Rangers have been monitoring him since December when Football Insider revealed he had had caught the eye in Dundee’s 2-1 win at Ibrox.
And they must do everything in their power to land him ahead of Celtic in the summer.
Kamara has just broken through into the Finland senior team and has absolutely huge potential to go on and become a huge star.
Bagging him this summer will net Mark Allen a player who Rangers can build a side around next season, along with Burnley ace Scott Arfield.
It looks like Arfield is going to be one of the surprise signings of the summer after Football Insider revealed that he has told Allen he will be joining in June.
And he would be the perfect mentor for Kamara in the middle of the park.
The fact that Celtic and Swansea are in the hunt is testament to his quality, but rangers must do everything to ensure that Kamara strengthens the blue half of Glasgow and not their rivals.
With Arfield and Kamara in the bag before the BBQs are even out, this could go on to become one of the best transfer windows for Rangers in recent years.
