'I worried' - Rangers sensation reveals Mark Warburton did not think he was good enough

Rangers sensation Ross McCrorie has revealed he feared his Rangers career was coming to a premature end under former Gers boss Mark Warburton.
Warburton sent the teenager out on loan to Dumbarton 12 months ago after bringing in David Bates to replace him in the club’s Academy leaving the Scotland youth international fearing his days at Ibrox could be numbered.
The then-Rangers boss didn’t think McCrorie had the ability to make it at a club the size of Rangers, as exclusively revealed by Football Insider in September, and looked to move the young defender on elsewhere.
McCrorie admitted that although he kept pushing to achieve his dream of playing for Rangers there was always a “wee bit of doubt” that it wouldn’t happen for him.
“There was a fear when I went to Dumbarton that I might not come back to Rangers. I’m not going to lie, I worried that I might not get a chance here after that,” McCrorie said, as quoted by The Scotsman.
“But I kept working, trying to improve my game every day.
“I had to believe but there’s always a wee bit of doubt at the back of your mind – am I ever going to get a chance to play in Rangers’ first team?
“Thankfully Pedro [Caixinha] came in and gave me that opportunity.
“I don’t think Mark fancied me and I respected his opinion. He felt I wasn’t ready and he was probably right. So it’s worked out well in the end.”
The 19-year-old has gone on to make himself a first-team regular this season after making his debut in the League Cup quarter-final win over Partick Thistle earlier in the season.
McCrorie has impressed in both defence and midfield for the first-team and has been one of the Gers best performers over the course of the season.
The Scotland Under-21 international recently signed a new contract to tie him to the Gers until the summer of 2022 alongside twin brother Robby.
In latest Rangers news, Gers fans have blasted the Ibrox board for their handling of Murphy’s transfer.
