Rangers star agent makes transfer admission after reported shock approach from English club
Alfredo Morelos’ agent Jonne Lindblom has admitted that it is “natural” for there to be interested in a transfer for the centre-forward, but he insists that he plans to stay at Rangers.
Sun reporter Alan Nixon claimed on his personal Twitter account on Sunday that English Championship club Bristol City have approached the Gers with “shock” enquiries about Morelos, 21, but it is understood that the move would be costly for the Robins.
The Colombian forward has been in top form since moving to Ibrox in the summer from HJK Helsinki in a deal worth £1million.
He is one of just a few of Pedro Caixinha’s signings to have impressed in Scotland, with the Colombia youth international scoring 12 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions for the Light Blues.
Now, his agent Lindbolm has admitted that while he expects there to be interest in Morelos, he does not expect the Rangers star to be on the move during the January transfer window despite reported interest from south of the border.
“Alfredo is enjoying his football, he is playing well at Rangers,” he said, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“When a young player is doing well, it is natural there will be interest, but there is nothing to be thinking about at the moment.
“There is nothing going on with Alfredo and it is not something that has even been discussed.”
Morelos has been a regular face in Graeme Murty’s starting line-up since he took charge when Caixinha was sacked in October.
Now with Jason Cummings signed up on loan from Nottingham Forest, it will be interesting to see how Murty copes with having two strikers who will no doubt want to be starting each week, and both proven to be able to find the net in Scotland.
Jamie Murphy has also been snapped up from Brighton and the ex-Motherwell star also has the ability to start up front.
Eduardo Herrera and Kenny Miller also remain on the books, but they appear to have slipped well down the pecking order after Murty snapped up a few new players.
