Morelos could quit Rangers on Wednesday morning after £13m update - pundit

Alfredo Morelos could decide his Rangers future after Colombia’s Copa America campaign is over – and that could be as soon as Wednesday.

That is according to ex-Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 25-year-old striker.

Colombia will face Argentina in the second semi-final in Brasilia at 2.00am BST on Wednesday.

This site revealed on 26th June that Rangers have told Porto that they want £13million for the striker who netted 17 times last season.

Morelos, who has made one substitute appearance at South America’s flagship international tournament so far, has two years left on his contract.

Kenny claimed that Morelos will wait until after Colombia’s campaign is over before making a decision on his Ibrox future.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “Yeah, I think if that’s been bubbling away, I’m sure once he gets back things will start progressing.

“With the Copa America, he’ll be reluctant to do anything until its all over. It’s the same for players at the Euros too.

“I’m sure if there is an option for him to go to Porto, I’m sure that’ll get sorted as soon as he’s back from Colombia and from playing in the tournament.

Morelos, who has been capped 10 times by Colombia, signed for Rangers from Finnish side HJK Hellskinki in 2017 in a £1m deal.

He has netted 94 times in 182 appearances since then and waas instrumnetal in last season’s title triumph.
